One of the best ways of personalizing your home is to establish a photo wall that depicts family members, favorite pieces of artwork, or scenes that appeal to you and your family. Not only does this add an artistic, appealing aesthetic to your household, but it's a great way to inject some of your own personality into the way your home is decorated. Here is the easiest, most systematic approach to creating your own photo wall.

Gather the photos

This might be the most time-consuming part of the project, because it calls for you to  assemble all your candidate photos before laying them out on the wall of choice. If you have groups of similarly-themed photos, these should probably be hung up close together. For instance, if you have pictures of each of your children, they should be together, and if you have several prints of classic artwork, they should be placed together also.

Measure your wall space

Now, it's time to measure the wall space you have available, so you'll know if you can fit all your photos there, or if you'll have to choose some photos over others. If necessary, lay all the photos on the floor in the same arrangement you expect them to be on the wall. This will help to determine spacing, and you'll also have a visual representation of how they'll look together when hung up.

Finalize the layout

If you don't already have frames for all your pictures, you'll need to purchase them at this point. Make sure that there is some commonality between the frames, e.g. the style, even if the photos themselves are of different sizes. Now, you can lightly mark in pencil those places on the photo wall where each picture will be hung. After accomplishing this, all you'll need to do is start hanging up all your selections.
