The Project

Art Trove was established as a private museum and gallery in Singapore specializing in European art from the 19th and 20th centuries. Systematic Art was selected to provide the professional picture hanging system for its 2,400-square-foot exhibition space in Singapore's Bras Basah-Bugis arts and cultural district.

The gallery required a flexible display infrastructure that would allow curators to reposition artwork as exhibitions changed while maintaining the clean, refined appearance expected of a museum environment.

Art Trove exhibited significant 20th-century artists including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse and Jean Cocteau, alongside other European and contemporary artists. The changing nature of the collection made flexibility an important part of the gallery's display system.

A Flexible Gallery Hanging System

Systematic Art provided Art Trove with a rail-and-rod picture hanging system designed for professional exhibition spaces. Instead of creating new mounting points in the walls whenever artwork was moved, the system provided a permanent hanging infrastructure that allowed the gallery to reposition and rearrange artwork as needed.

Artwork could be moved horizontally along the picture rail and adjusted vertically using compatible hanging rods and adjustable hooks. This gave the gallery greater freedom to accommodate artwork of different dimensions and create new arrangements as exhibitions changed.

The installation combined Systematic Art's Gallery Picture Rail, Aluminium Classic Hanging Rods, and Museum Rod Hooks to create a modular professional hanging system throughout the exhibition space.

The Result

The completed installation provided Art Trove with a flexible foundation for changing exhibitions while keeping the hanging hardware visually discreet. Artwork could be repositioned without repeatedly drilling new mounting points into the gallery walls, helping maintain a consistent and professional presentation throughout the space.

The project demonstrates how a professional picture hanging system can become part of the underlying infrastructure of a gallery or museum, allowing curators to adapt displays as collections and exhibitions evolve.
